A LOVELORN pensioner took their very own life after failing in the battle to carry their 25-year-old Filipino bride to Calderdale.

Philip Chadwick, 66, of Sackville Street, Todmorden, had been driven to despair following the girl, who he reported had been an intercourse worker in Cyprus, had been struggling to obtain a visa to come quickly to Britain.

That, combined with loss of their mother, plunged Mr Chadwick into depression. And an after his mother’s funeral, he committed suicide by walking on to the tracks at dobroyd crossing, todmorden, in front of the midnight train to manchester month. (more…)
